Important Pre-Departure Information

Before you leave for your exchange, there are a number of important details that you must take care of. Please consult the following checklist for outgoing students to ensure that you are ready for your departure!

Pre-Departure Orientation

Required:

• Register by completing the online form below
• All students going on exchange from Carleton University must attend the Pre-Departure Orientation
• Presentation of campus card for photo identification to confirm attendance

• Transfer of Credit
• Risks & Responsibilities
• Tips for Study Abroad and Travel
• Health & Wellness
• Funding
• Cultural Adaptation

Attendance at the Orientation is a MANDATORY requirement of the exchange program.  If a student fails to comply with any of the pre-departure requirements, or miss the orientation session, the exchange application may be cancelled.  Registration instructions will be sent to the student’s Carleton email address.

The Pre-Departure Orientation is normally held in early April and students will receive more details on the Pre-Departure Orientation once they have been selected to participate in the exchange program.

Outgoing students will receive a pre-departure check list enclosed with their letter of acceptance with detailed instructions on the next steps to be taken.

Students are reminded that their Carleton University Assumptions of Risk, Responsibility and Liability Waiver Form and Proof of Insurance form must be submitted to the ISSO by the deadline indicated on the forms.
