Registration upon being Accepted:
- The first step is to choose the courses you wish to take. You will need to consult the Carleton University Undergraduate Calendar or Graduate Calendar for a complete list of courses.
- Remember to consult the Public Class Schedule
- When choosing your courses check the Pre-requisites. The first number in the course code is the year level. If the course level is 2000, 3000 or 4000, read the description of the pre-requisite(s) VERY carefully to make sure you possess the required background knowledge. DO NOT SELECT A COURSE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE. Proof of background knowledge must be submitted.
- Next, build your timetable using the Class Schedule. Check very carefully the term in which courses are offered.
- An academic year (September to April) is divided into two terms: Fall and Winter. Full (1.0) credit courses run from September to April. Half (0.5) credit courses are offered either from September to December (Fall term) or from January to April (Winter Term).
- The Registrar’s Office will write to you directly concerning your course load. On arrival, register with the Registrar’s Office located on the 3rd floor, Tory Building.
Traditionally, classes begin after Labour Day, which is the first Monday in September. Residence opens on the Labour Day weekend. Winter term classes generally begin in the first week of January. Consult the Class Schedule for exact dates.
