Kanina Holmes is a proud alumnus of Carleton, earning highest honours in both a Bachelor of Journalism (’92) and an M.A. from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (’95). After a decade of media experience, she returned to the School of Journalism and Communication to teach in January 2004.
To date, Kanina’s career has taken her to the United Kingdom, Sweden, East Africa and throughout Canada. Most recently, she was the bureau producer for CBC Television in Whitehorse, Yukon. Kanina has been a producer and reporter with CBC TV, CBC radio and was a national correspondent with Global Television in Winnipeg. She has also worked as a senior reporter with Reuters, the world’s largest wire service.
Kanina’s research interests include media coverage of Canada’s North, media ethics, international politics, African studies, rural reporting and documentary filmmaking.
