The Provost is the chief academic officer of Carleton University, responsible for fostering an environment of academic excellence and innovation for students, faculty, and staff. The Provost is also responsible for ensuring that Carleton University is competitive in Canada and an academic leader across the world.

- encouraging and advancing student achievement and success;
- the recruitment and support of an inspired faculty body;
- new program development and ongoing program renewal; and
- developing a global academic vision for Carleton’s future.
