The theme for this year’s Research Day is the one adopted by the CASW for this year: “Social Workers: Building Relationships, Strengthening Communities and Partnering for Change”. We invite paper presentations which will enrich the knowledge base of social work practice, teaching, and research. We look forward to the experiences and energy that you will bring to the School, and to papers that stimulate critical thinking on the structural approach to social work.

Graduate students, field supervisors, faculty (including adjunct professors and sessional instructors) and alumni are encouraged to submit abstracts. Undergraduate students who are completing their Honour’s Essays will also be considered.

If you are interested in presenting at this Research Day, please send an abstract of 250 – 350 words to Karen Schwartz and to Hugh Armstrong .

The From Stilettos to Moccasins research project hired 13 provincial/territorial ambassadors to help advertise, circulate and assist others with facilitating a healing journey workshop. From Stilettos to Moccasins: A Guide for Group Discussion©, is a free, easy to deliver health intervention workshop that accompanies the music video From Stilettos to Moccasins. The workshop is an outcome of a community-based research project undertaken by the National Native Addictions Partnership Foundation, the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse, and the University of Saskatchewan. The step-by-step workshop raises awareness about the role that identity and stigma have in the healing journeys of criminalized First Nations, Métis and Inuit women in treatment for drug abuse and offers hope to individuals on their healing journeys.
