Donald Swartz

For the past several years my research has been concerned with the transformation of the Canadian state associated with the shift to neoliberalism. Its focus has been on the evolving trend, visible at all levels of government as well as in the courts, towards an increasing reliance on coercive restrictions on trade union rights and freedoms to regulate industrial relations. More recently, my research has broadened to include the question of the kinds of changes within the labour movement that would be necessary for them to reestablish the rights and freedoms they have lost over the past two decades
