U-Pass: Winter Term Information

This year every full-time (1.5 credits or more) student is eligible for an OC Transpo U-Pass and the cost will be included in their student fees.  The U-Pass will be valid from September 2011 to April 2012 and is accepted on OC Transpo buses, O-Train and Para Transpo.

If you picked up your U-Pass in September 2011, the same card is valid for the winter term.

January 13 deadline

If you are not returning to CU as a full-time (1.5 credits or more) student in the winter term or qualify for an exemption in the winter term, you must return your U-Pass to the Campus Card office, fourth-floor University Centre by Jan. 13 2012 for a fee adjustment of $145.  If the U-Pass is not returned by January 13, a fee adjustment cannot be issued.

If you drop from full- to part-time status or withdrawal completely, you must return your U-Pass by Jan. 13, 2012 to the Campus Card Office, fourth floor University Centre.  If the U-Pass is not returned by January 13, a fee adjustment cannot be issued.

Exemptions

If you qualify for an exemption and you’ve picked up your U-Pass, all forms must be submitted to the Office of Student Affairs, 430 Tory Building, by Jan. 13, 2012.  Find out if you qualify at: http://carleton.ca/upass/exemptions/.

If you qualify for an exemption but have not yet picked up your U-Pass, you have until April 30, 2012to submit all forms to the Office of Student Affairs, 430 Tory Building provided you never pick up your U-Pass.

Winter pick up hours

The U-Pass can be picked up from the Campus Card office, fourth-floor University Centre. For hours and operations, please visit http://carleton.ca/campuscard/hours-of-operation/.

If you picked up your U-Pass in September 2012, the same card is valid for the winter term.

U-Pass Terms and Conditions

Prior to the beginning of the Fall Term, every full-time Carleton student has access to the new Universal Transit Pass or the U-Pass. Just a reminder to familiarize yourself with the Terms and Conditions of the U-Pass.

  1. This pass provides ridership privileges throughout the designated validity period shown, and is subject to availability of equipment and service.
  2. This pass must be presented to uniformed OC Transpo employees, OC Transpo Enforcement Officers and police officers in an open and unrestricted manner upon demand.
  3. To be valid the pass must show no signs of tampering.
  4. This pass is valid as payment of the full fare on OC Transpo vehicles providing regular, express, rural express, or Para Transpo transit services. Para Transpo service to rural zones requires an additional fare.
  5. Passes are NON-TRANSFERABLE, and are STRICTLY PERSONAL.
  6. Invalid or misused passes will be confiscated and/or a Provincial Offence Notice will be issued.

Students who fail to comply may be subject to fines by OC Transpo and to sanctions under the Student Rights and Responsibility policy (http://carleton.ca/studentaffairs/student-rights-and-responsibilities/).
