Academic Advantage Coaches

The Centre for Initiatives in Education (CIE) hires qualified upper year and graduate students to coach students in the Enriched Support Program (ESP) and Indigenous Enriched Support Program (IESP).

Academic coaches do outreach in ESP/IESP First Year seminars and workshops and book appointments with students one on one to coach them academically.

The deadline for applications is June 14th, 2019.

Positions Available

Recruitment for 2019-20 academic year has now begun. All of the following positions are subject to budgetary approval.

Academic Advantage Coaches

  • Two to four Academic Advantage Coaches are being hired to support students in ESP and other CIE programs as required.  

Math/Science Academic Advantage Coach

  • The Math and/or Science Coaches will be working specifically to support students in ESP/IESP who are taking first year Math, Econ and Science courses.

How do I apply?

How to apply for a position as an Academic Advantage Coach:

  1. Print and fill out the application form:
  1. Attach your resume.
  2. Attach a copy of a paper you have written for a university course, including feedback and comments from the TA or instructor who did the marking.
  3. Print and attach your Academic Audit. Please note that CGPA and course grades will be verified by CIE staff.
  4. Attach a cover letter stating why you think you would make a good academic coach for CIE students. What is it about coaching that interests you?  What experience and personal qualities make you a good applicant to this position?
  5. Send your completed application package to the Alison Boucher, Assistant Coordinator, Academic Advantage Program, Centre for Initiatives in Education (address is on the application form). Applications must be received in our office by the specified deadline.
  6. Ensure you are available for interviews during the month of July.
